Smoothies and herbs

So I decided to write today in the hope that telling you all what I plan on doing today might motivate me a little more!

However, let's go back to the end of this semester.

Two posts ago, I listed all the things that I needed to be done for finals! And yes, I did complete them all (by the skin of my teeth)! I also got my grades for this semester and I didn't get below a B-, even in Spanish Phonetics, which was REALLY hard! My other Spanish literature class was also a killer, but I got a B- in that as well. Phew!! So yes, I did everything and I think the reason I feel so unmotivated is because I'm just so exhaused. Schoolwork and stress is hard stuff! Seriously, anyone who thinks a college student doesn't work hard needs to be plopped in the middle of a class 4 weeks before finals and then they'll learn just how much work professors like to give students. I also think professors need to become students again, just because some of the things they do is outrageous. But I digress.

Today, I think, I'd like to update my Book of Shadows and move things to a binder so they can be easily accessed and I can use dividers instead of crappy little post-it notes. I'm also planning on showering today (big accomplishment :P) and shaving my legs. I would like to not go outside, but the herbies need watering and maybe I'll take some pictures for you all!!! Actually, after I'm done typing this, I think that's the first thing I'll do :D Later today, I'm meeting up with a friend so we can get dinner at Tenoch, the lovely Mexican place down the street from me. Seriously good!!

So yeah, that is my day today. Oh, and can I also mention that I made a great smoothie this morning, although I think I broke my blender because of the ice, whoops. Yesterday I made apple lemon lime celery and today I made strawberry lemon with some cranberry pomegranate juice with celery. Honestly, for being so mild, celery can really leave a big taste! It was DELICIOUS though!! I am so happy that I have the time to make smoothies. Seriously, one of the reasons I don't want to start working is because I just have so much time and I love it. But alas, money is an issue.

Alright, I'm off.

Peace!

Summer Blues

Wait.
What?
I'm not supposed to have blues during the summer, right?? Well, I do. And it sucks. While I don't have depression I've been feeling extremely unmotivated to find a job and also very nervous because this is the first summer where I don't have a steady job lined up.

All the the jobs I see that are available are sales associate jobs, which is something that I definitely don't really want to do. But if I have to, I will. I'd like to be a waitress, and my very good friend sent me a list of jobs she found today some of which were waitress jobs. Seriously, a HUGE thank you to her! It was so thoughtful of her to do that.

It's just been really difficult, and God only knows why I feel so unmotivated. I guess the end of the semester really took a toll on me. However, this weekend I'm going to fix my resume and get a list of places I want to call and ask if they're still hiring and then go in and fill out an application. Gotta get my butt into gear, especially because I have a phone bill to pay and I really hate having $30 in my bank account.

I'm also mad at myself for my bad spending habits. Sigh.

On the plus side, I started to watch The Tudors and I'm really enjoying it. I'm on the fifth season of Doctor Who with Matt Smith (whom I actually really like in the role), and I just finished reading Hotel Babylon, based off a man's experience in a very posh London Hotel. While the characters and the Hotel are fictional, the story is based off the man's actual experiences. Pretty crazy! I'm also looking forward to reading some great books the summer. Seriously people, go to your public libraries! They are such wonderful resources and it's all for FREE!!

If you want to know what I plan on reading this summer, I have a Goodreads account which you are more than welcome to check out! I don't update it that much, but I do try, especially during the summer.

I also did my first Wiccan ritual yesterday! It was so lovely. I did an Esbat ceremony, a ritual that celebrates the Goddess and the full moon (a feminine symbol) and also one to commemorate the women in my life. It was a FANTASTIC experience and I can't wait to do it again!

So yeah, there's my summer in a nutshell, in pictures:

(this one's an esbat ceremony if you didn't get the connection :P)

(reading)

So yeah, that's it, plus work I hope! And seeing the boyfriend :D

I also started an herb garden so pictures might come later!!

Peace and Love,

Karen x

Late-night ramblings

Before I head off to bed, I figured I'd say hi and check with y'all (if anyone reads my blog, that is. Seriously....does anyone? That would be cool).

Tomorrow - well, today really, because it's after midnight - I'm going to clean my room. There's something about a clean room that makes me feel so much better! My friend always says that clutter attracts negative energy, and I can get behind that.

I am such a college student. I have:

Coffee cups littering the desk
wrappers everywhere
unmade bed
recycling that I have to take out
Laundry that I STILL haven't hung up
Dirty laundry near the laundry basket but not in it.

Oh man. I have a lot to do tomorrow. I also have lots of stuff due. I'm writing this out partially for my benefit, so I can get all my thoughts in one place, and partially for yours so in case anyone says college students are lazy, you can show them this:

Due 5/6: Anth. reflection paper
              Spanish Topics test final
5/7: Spanish phonetics paper
5/9: Spanish phonetics final
5/10: Anth. paper (4-6 pages)
5/13: Spanish topics paper (5-7 pages)
5/14: Education project and reflection paper.

OH MY GOD. I HAVE SO MANY FREAKING PAPERS AND TESTS, I AM GOING TO DIE. This is *so* not okay.

I think I'm going to go wallow in some coffee now. On the bright side, I got some lovely books for me to read, one of which being The Shack, which is a very famous Christian book. I'm not Christian, but hey - it apparently has some lovely lessons and thoughts in it.

I also took out:

  •  Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling, writer and actress of The Mindy Project and The Office.
  • The Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian
And I borrowed Free The Children by Craig Kielburger from my boyfriend. All in all, four books which I am going to DEMOLISH in my free time (HAH) between finals and papers. I also re-organized my Goodreads, ya know - as ya do - and I'm updating my summer list.

Well, bedtime for me.
Night night!

K x
